Yesterday I bought the "Jamie's 30 minute meals" cookbook and was eager to try it out. However, Nathan had already decided he was cooking dinner and stole the glory of cooking the first 30 minute meal! We had:
- Pork chops & crispy crackling
- Crushed potatoes
- Minty cabbage
- Peaches & custard
It was delicious! The pork was baked with sage and cumin seeds (meant to be fennel we had none) which was scrumptious. The idea of putting mint sauce with steamed cabbage is something I would never have thought of and made perhaps the most boring vegetable in the world taste good - I even had a second serving. The potatoes were microwaved with lemon which worked surprisingly well - citrus and potato is not something I would have picked as going together. And of course we all knew that peaches cooked in cinnamon served with custard was going to be a winner! The amazing thing is that all this really did only take Nathan about 30 minutes! So the cookbook has lived up to its name and I am itching to have a go. So tonight will have to be my meal in 30 minutes - stay tuned.
You forgot to mention that I washed up afterwards as well. Me cooking AND washing up - there is a first for everything.
