The Berry Hotel - Review

Like any Weber event, Leonie's (Nathan's sister) birthday celebration had several components. After a Saturday evening of pizza's and wine and Balderdash, and a morning of tea and birthday cake it was off to Berry for lunch at The Berry Hotel - a pub on Queen Street.

First off we started off in a private room which had a fire place which was super cosy and warm with the lovely smell of a wood fire. It was a bit squashy for the ten people we had though so we got moved to another room called the Coach House which is also available for private dining parties.

The menu had lots of delicious looking things on it and I picked the Greek Chicken Burger: Greek seasoned chicken thigh meat, eggplant, roasted tomato and basil mayonnaise on turkish bread. I am not really sure that turkish bread is suitable for a Greek burger but it was scrumptious.  I think I will have to try copying the basil mayo. Nathan order the Berry Beef Burger which also looked awesome and apparently had an extremely good tomato relish on it. All the other food ordered looked and smelt good too, there were: tapas plates, guinness pie, chicken blt and roast vegetable salad - which probably covers all the best things on the menu.

However, the service was not fantastic and the coffee was terrible and I definitely would not recommend it - unless acrid, burnt coffee is your thing. A great pub to go to if you like a cosy fire and a good burger - not too busy either.

  1. I can definitely say that the tomato relish was really good! My coffee was very strong but I avoided a burnt coffee, shame that Rik wasn't so lucky.
